I was trying to fire up my new RM4 pre-amp system for the first time this past weekend...

When powered on the LED's on each module is lit and is not selectable (by foot switch or front panel selector) ... I also have no output from the RM4.

I have removed EVERY component from the rack to eliminate anything else causing the problem. I have even swapped out a couple known good cables for other cable tested on my combo amp.

Plugged guitar in both front and back inputs and have tried both pre and a post outputs directly to power amp.

I can hear the RM4 switch on and off with a low hum. (very quiet, not a bad ground 60hz buzz)

Why is this thing NOT coming on and not selecting channels?

Thanks,
Bryan

All 4 LED's are dimly lit.

I also tried removing one module at a time to see if there was one being a problem child? Each time I then had THREE dimly lit LED?s as soon as it powered up.

Dead MIDI switching board or blown fuses on switchboard?

EDIT: these are internal fuses and may be hidden from view.

I'd return it, if it is new....

All fuses are good? MIDI board was along the lines I was thinking as well? Just want to double check since this is my first experience with any MTS gear and the manual ? well? the manual might as well have not even been printed.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, the manuals are useless for all but basic stuff.

I can't recall if it states this in the manual but you should not plug a footswitch in after the unit has been powered on.

Ah okay... I checked the bank of fuses that are lined up under the MIDI board? Guess there could be more, eh?... Since this unit is new and the manual does not even cover the basics like fuses I?m not going on a scavenger hunt for ?em.

I read NOT to plug the footswitch (RF-4) in to the RM-4 while powered on here? I don?t recall the manual addressing that at all either.

Thanks again for the info
