I'm talking popular music here, not instrumental jam songs ( not Cliffs Of Dover, Attitude Song, etc.)

I'll set the example.....

Rainbow - Can't Happen Here (Ritchie Blackmore)
Pretenders - Kid (James Honeyman Scott)
KISS - Love Her All I Can (Ace Frehley)
Dokken - In My Dreams (George Lynch)
Foreigner - Hot Blooded (Mick Jones)

These are songs that have made me run stop lights, forget to make a turn and miss my street or sometimes forget I'm in public. (air guitar in the car)

The point of this thread is to share lead guitar solos that you may have missed, But it's good stuff.

..and a personal favorite maybe you never heard but..
"I Cant Look away" by Trevor Rabin.
all of these solos are transformative..they take the song (and you) from here to there..and do so...so well..you just get caught up in it and for moment think and feel what the soloist wanted you to know.
..just the best,imho.

..I could think of a handlefule more..but its late ...Im tired.

Ha ! Bought the CD when it came out.
Favorite songs on it are:
"Sorrow (your heart)" and "Sludge"
The hit single "Something To Hold On To" was OK, too.

Trevor has done quite a few good soundtracks for movies, too.
Great singer/songwriter as well.

Nowhere Man is in my top 5 Beatles songs. ("Hello Good-bye" being #1 on the list)

Funny thing is, Warren D. had only played for a few years when they put that LP out. I think he got WORSE as he got older :lol: (if that's possible).
I heard some of his work back 10 years ago. It sucked!

PS: I am a major Trevor Rabin Fan and If anyone has any interest whatsoever..gibve a listn to his solo CD..it was 1989...but who cares..the notes, the phrases..the ideas are still very cool. If it seems dated try The Yes CD "Talk"...very esoteric, but also conatins some great moments.
trevor is sorely missed by so many..the soundtracks are nice ("Caught a Train" on the Eraser soundtrack is fantastic..but unavailable..******!!)..but the soundtracks have alot to do with music that is made to spec..to be used as wallpaper. I think Trevor has a rare gift with commercial songs (3-8 minutes) and we havent heard anyone in years who comes close.

Off the top of my head (and one I haven't seen mentioned yet) is White Lion's "Little Fighter" (Vitto Bratta). Vito Bratta is a tragically underrated guitarist IMO, and I love that solo!

Definitely a +1 on "Comfortably Numb" solo. So soulful and evocative...

I think DiMartini is the man (saw Ratt in concert last month!) but I think my favorite solo of his is from "Way Cool Jr"
