Occasionally while playing my amp will suddenly give out and all the gain will be gone, it will be fuzzy and i will just barely be able to hear my guitar in the background. It sounds exactly like the volume knob is turned up only enough to hear the slightest bit of the guitar. This ONLY happens on the dirty channel, but after it happens if i switch to the clean channel it's also silent. There are two things i can do that bring it back to normal. If i switch it to standby and to the clean channel, flipping it back on usually fixes it. If that doesn't work if i strum a chord very hard it seems to kick it back into gear. It happens very sporatically, so far it's only happened in the first 30 minutes or so of playing each time i sit down and play.
I tried wiggling all the connections and it doesn't seem to make a difference in that state.
I pulled all the tubes and placed them solidly back in.
I tried a different guitar, still happened.
I have been told it could either be a dirty jack, the output transformer, or a bad tube. All the tubes glow nicely. Taking it to a tech isn't the easiest solution. I don't know of any that live within an hour's drive of me.
Thanks for your help.
