SG Afterlife (WOW!)

Well gents- I know putting this up after Scott's announcement kind of hurts if you wanted to get one- I did get it yesterday....let me just say this.....HOLY *&%^^*%!!!. Complete and utter devastation!! Perfect for me in that it is a complete departure from my Marshall tones and it gets "closer" to the real deal than anything else I've heard. Low end, clarity, gain? All are excellent- The depth switch kind of acts as a "tight" switch and the mid shift gives it the extra "chew" I love in any amp. The faceplate is just icing on the cake -but like I've said before a lot of these mods chasing the botique, high gain modern metal tones really have a hard time having that "umpphhh" of the real Uber or Engl type amps without getting boomy of flubby. This one is the best I've heard- especially loaded with a quad of KT88's hitting my Randall XL cabs. Im loving that the KT's seem to keep it from getting boomy- Just super tight low end attack with killer clarity. I am very pleased with this mod- Scott hit a home run with this one!! It moves right into slot one of my RM100.

You're gonna love it- It exceeded my expectations, even for Scott and I've had a couple other of his mods that were also great- This is just a beast of a mod!

You are one lucky guy! That mod is on my list for sure. Thanks for sharing. It is a bit of a downer SG isnt taking on work till he gets
caught up but it does show he likes to put heart into his work and
not rush anything. I have been pleased with SG mods that I have
tried and the custom XTC I had built was a top dog in my arsenal.

Thanks guys!- Yeah I was working with Scott on the order weeks prior to his announcement but waited patiently for my "Xmas Gift" from the wife...hehehe....well worth the wait though. Im sure SG will be back soon.

Haha! I hear you bro- But the best I could do is a phone vid- Not set up or anywhere near the studio where we track. There are just a few of these out there- Maybe Matt or one of the other guys who got one can beat me to the punch-If I can do a track, I would want to give this mod it's due! Very heavy- Gobs of usable gain, tight low end and definitely has the "character" of the Bogner Uberschall- also really impressed with the clarity/warmth Scott has in this one. I just had to move it to the middle slot because it looks best there with the glowing green eyes starting from the center lol!

Hey guys- Here's a quick one minute cell phone clip of some random metal riffs...I hate putting something like this up because in no way does it do Scott's mod justice but many requests for some kind of clip- You cant feel the punch and girth this thing has via this vid...anyway, I am only tuned a half step down- I am certain it can handle much lower tunings... EDIT- This is straight guitar cable to amp..No effects/boost or EQ- Gain about 11 o clock (plenty o usuable gain left :twisted: )

That sounds great. I sent SG a module of mine just before he closed shop and haven't heard anything back from him regarding payment. I hope it gets done eventually. The afterlife sounds excellent. If scott keeps doing mods, I have to get an Afterlife from him. Really, it sounds amazing

Sounds really cool. I still wanna hear one in person. Seemed still a bit SLOish. I played through mine today and the tone is similar. Thanks for giving us a clip. Hope the first of many from this mod. :wink:

Thx gents! I love this thing- Totally different to my ears than anything else I've had....A couple of things that dont come accross in the vid are the "girth" that really extends beyond an SLO type mod and the thick Bogner type low end. It's got extra bite on the top end too and very organic sounding so maybe that's the comparison...Maybe the riffs I played too? Could be that I like a LOT of mids dialed in or that Im an 80's metal guy??? LOL...Dont know, but hopefully you can tell the killer clarity and touch responsiveness is there. If/when I get the chance between work/NAMM and my two cover bands- I want track this thing properly to give it its due. Matt may get to do that first! If he got a pic sent- Its coming soon bro~ EDIT- Brewtus- Just saw your question about guitar etc- (US Charvel Pro Mod Maple Neck/board) I dropped a Duncan Custom 5 in this particular guitar- my other Charvels have Duncan JB's. I have sold all my Jacksons/Gibsons for Charvel Pro Mods! Cant get enough of em...
