I really want to try a Mamba SE.
I think it may be my last shot at getting the tight high gain Crunch rhythm tone I'm looking for.
I already have a Angel E that's perfect for super high gain rhythm and lead but want a second tight, dry high gain mod I can set a little different (slightly lower gain and more mid) for 2nd crunch rhythm.
I may just end up getting a second Angel :)

I am looking to buy or trade for a Mamba SE ....

I have a Salvation Custom 3++,
and a JF custom Ultra XL with 3 way tight, 3 way voice, mid sweep, presence pot, and hi/low gain switch

Both sound great and are very versatile, but I have my eye on the Mamba SE and can't afford to keep everything

Aren't they still available to order from Salvation :?:

Basically you can get a standard version and get the additional Diff switch from the SE version for an extra $20 I believe and then you have an SE version but it just won't have an SE sticker on it.

Yes, I can get one, but I passed up on two in the last couple weeks here and I don't want to wait 17 weeks  (exageration)

I was able to order and receive a new JF Tillogy plus get two used mods while waiting for my Angel E from Salvation.

I'm way too impatient to do that again.

I doubt anymore SE's will pop up anytime soon in the classifieds. I would've never have sold mine if financially I didn't need to unload some mods for bills, same with my Hwatt currently listed.

You wait a little more for Anthony's but in my opinion it's totally worth the wait, all his mods are top notch. Same with Scott aka SG in my books, why not message Scott to see about his Uberschall mod? I know it's not a Mamba SE but from what he has told me it's a metal, gain beast and I'm looking forward to trying one of those sometime soon once I get this settled here.

Maybe the two Mamba SE's were a fluke, but I'm trying to complete my rig for recording and shows very soon.

I don't know much about the SG Uberschall, haven't heard clips or reviews. What's his price and turn around?

If anyone has other suggestions or trade offers, let me know

I have an Afterlife (Uber) coming in the next couple weeks....I will post what I can when it arrives...

I just made a video of my 3 best modules, the Angel E, Custom 3++ and JF modded Ultra XL.

I don't think I would sell any of these unless I thought something was better (like mayme the Mamba SE)
I 'm definitely keeping the Angel.
These modules are all an the same par and can get similar tones, but I prefer the tightness and character of the Angel.
I would consider trades for the Custom or the UXL.

I am commissioning Rob to build me a Dual channel Cobra mod. I'm sending the donor out next week. I really dig the Mamba, but I'd like to add some diversity. I also looked into ordering a new one from Salvation, but I don't want to wait, pay a ton of $$, plus I'd like to support a made in USA product.
Rob was the one that suggested the project so who was I to argue 😊
Looking forward to an absolutely beautiful brutal mod. I am also looking for suggestions in additional tone options for this beast. Input is welcome.

Too funny... I thought the Custom 3 and the Ultra XL sounded better than the angel :p Everyone has different taste, guess that's why they make so many mods :p

If the Angel is your benchmark tone, I'm not sure how you would like a Mamba SE. Mamba SE is very, VERY KSE (As Daylight Dies, End of Heartache) Much more saturated than what you seem to be looking for.

If you can find one, get one... I LOVE mine, but judging from your clip and description, it may not be what you think it is.

Ohhhh... Ask Matt, The Mamba takes a back seat to NO ONE! LOL If the Mamba is truly what you crave, everything else will be it's backup :p LOL They're nasty and highly recommended

Let us know how you do :D

I've said it before, my MambaSE reads this forum and is not afraid to open a can of butt-kick on anyone who disagrees that it isn't the single greatest high gainer built. It's a very angry module. As Big Daddy said, it is very mean and very dense in tone. Not for everyone. Perfect Killswitch tone. Very heavy handed. I'm gonna go make sure mine doesn't need anything now.

Big daddy, you have a couple good points. I've played a Cobra and found it very dry and honest, not super saturated.
Also, my Angel e crushes the normal Angel.
I had the balls switch more subtle to use all the time without being too woofy.
It' huge AND tight.

You're also right about the Custom3++.
Not sure I want to let it go.
All 3 of the mods in the video are great, I've just heard so many good things about the Mamba. If its way more saturated, I may not be happy with it

Very surprising to hear that, my Angel B I got from Drew made a friend's Angel E sound quite a bit weaker in comparison between the two (gain and aggression, low end wise). Maybe I just have a special Angel B here :)

I'm exagerating when saying it crushes the Angel B.
I had an angel B. Loved it but thought the balls switch was too much, almost unusable, and without it a bit thin.
That's why I love mine so much.
It's just right...the Goldilox mod. The 4 band eq is great too.
The frequencies are tuned just right to dial in a lot of great tones.
Having low mids and high mids more useful than a mid sweep.
I don't really hear anything less agressive about the Angel e.
I was running gain at noon and highs a bit low to get a fatter tone on that video.
It's capable of way more aggressive tones.
The mods I've heard that are more "aggressive" sound buzzy and fuzzy to me.
I'd also like to try a XMG+

Every module there sounds awesome to me...The Jaded Faith UltraXL sounds excellent! I was also impressed with the 3++ ... I had a Custom 3 but didn't find it particularly great....However, that clip makes me interested in that version.

Thanks for the vid...

First of all I love a good discussion about modules, especially ones that I find to be exceptional.

Second of all, I LOVE it when Matt has to feed his Mamba Ativan to keep it from escpaing the ROD (Rack of Delight) and ripping up other modules, Tazmanian Devil style LOL  If you guys could see the visual that I do, you'd be laughing your asses off :p

grbassist, I must admit, in the intrest of fairness, that I have never actaully heard a Cobra in my face, so I can only speak about the Mamba SE. IMO, the Mamba SE is epitome of saturation. Can you back off the gain and dry it up a bit, sure, but why would you want to? LOL I am a saturation junkie, I know I have a problem :p

Maybe the reason why I find the Mamba to be so saturated is the fact that I use JJ E34L's in my RM100s, so that's something to think about.

I will say again that your Ultra XL sounds phenominal to me, from the video you posted. I would seriously hesitate on selling that one before you got to compare it side by side with a Mamba.

Keep us updated on your decision

Good Luck!

My ears liked the Custom the best and then the Ultra XL. I surprised that the Angel didn't knock my socks off.

I checked out your other videos...is 6one9 your band? Sounds amazing!

I play bass and sing in 619.
I trade off bass and guitar in the original band Leadfoot Overdrive

I should have matched gain and treble levels more in the video.
The Angel gain was only at 11 and treble rolled off a bit to get a rhythm tone I like. I've been using a Fulltone fat boost to increase gain a bit for a more agrressive rhythm and lead tone.
I don't like too much gain on my main rhythm for articulation and palm mutes.
