right now i am using a mesa rec and love the sound.
i am looking at getting a rm4.Would like peoples input into
what they like about the different high gain modules.

Oh Yeah.......1086 is the way to go. That was what made me buy the Randall RM100 series. Loved it from the get go. Really brutal sounding(my opinion) tight when palm muting and really DYNAMIC responding when doing stops, chugging, etc.... NICE.......

I bought the KH3.....wasnt really for me. I KNEW I should of bought the KH2!! I am just a OLD METAL HEAD at heart!! hahaha! I lost interest in after Justice Album. Master of Puppets is where its at!! 8)

I have never tried to dial in anything on the 1086 but the Heavy stuff. Sad isnt it? Just have it locked in one spot for the past year and never played with it. Anyone else know what this module can do? I like the Mid-shift capabilities on it. REALLY SCOOPED! I have had the Recto module and also the Grail that are supposed to sound like a Recto but all opinions vary on that as well. I was buying modules before hearing them on-line and if I didnt like them I just sold them. Not the best way to check something out, but if your local music store didnt carry a module then thats one way to do it. Some would say waste of time, but I weeded out a few modules that I knew I wouldnt play. Listening to clips is cool as well, but its so different than actually playing thru the modules for a few hours and TEST DRIVING THEM!! 8)

Right now I'd say my fav is my Ultra, followed (very closely) by my Pete modded Recto.

Actually I'm currently blending the two through a mixer and some heavy EQ'ing. They sound mucho wicked together. Well, except for the nasty phasing problems (thus the heavy EQ'ing).

Up to recently it was the 1086 but this past week after getting it....DEFINITELY the EGNATER EG5! SMOKING!!!

How does that Egnater SL2 stack up compared to a Randall module? I tried the SL+ and it sounded good but Not "Edgy" enough? That a good way to describe it? Just was wondering about the SL2. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thats tough for me... I own two high gain... Grail... Mr Scary

I love them both but I'm a real fan of Soldano tones so I have to say Mr Scary... the Grail just pounds though.

To be completely honest though the Grail see's more time in the amp than the Mr Scary cuz I generally hit the Brahma with the Soldano Supercharger GTO and voila... Soldano tone! The Brahma and GTO are great togther.
