Hello. I've been checking out the Randall MTS series (which is what brought me here) and one thing I wish Randall had was a 50 watt 2x12 combo. I'm hesitant to get the 1x12 for fear that it will lack some punch. Anyone gigged with the 1x12 RM50c and can share their thoughts?

The 100 watt 2x12 looks nice (w/ three modules) but 100 watts is more than I need most of the time. Now if it had a half power switch it would be perfect and I would be all over it.

I guess I could get the 50 watt head and a 2x12 cab, but that would defeat the functional purpose of the combo that I was looking for.

You can also load the RM100 with 6V6's and get half power.

Personnally I would love to see a RM50 with 3 channels maybe even in a 2x10 combo.

Get an RM80 if you can find one. It's an RM50 with 2 12's and it comes with 6550 power tubes. swap them for El34's or 6L6's to get back to 50 watts.
It's a heavy sumbitch though :D

I actually found a couple of places selling these. Isn't it a little more than just switching tubes though to lower wattage?

Anyone A/B'd the different versions of this amp (i.e. RM100 vs. RM50 head or combo) and compared tone differences? Anything significant, other than what can be attributed to the cab sizes?

Nope, it's that simple! Buy a screwdriver and a multi-meter and you're set. Just adjust the bias properly and you're good to go! :D

I gig with the RM 50 and find it pretty sweet, wouldnt want anything louder. I love the tones, it does take some tweaking but once you find the sweet spot they sing!
