I recently snagged a GrailTone, and I really like it. However, I haven't gotten it to sound as good as some of the recordings I've heard. The sound I'm going for is that really aggressive sound where the notes just explode off the pick.
The first guitar I tried was a mutt strat with a Floyd...
My RM4 has locked up - at first two modules would be on at the same time w/no sound, then all 4 on at the same time - no switching either from the front button or via MIDI. ****!!!
Anyone know if an RM4 can be serviced locally in the Denver, Colorado area?
Looking for info/advice on replacing the fan in an RT2/50. I have a replacement fan, but I can't work out where the existing one is connected. The wires disappear under the circuit board, and I can't tell where, or if, they emerge.
Alternatively, I could just cut the wires and spice the new...
I opened up my RT2/50 to look at the bias points - there's a hole in the top of them (small white plastic sockets). If you press down through the hole, it seems to push a small metal clip down and make the connection tighter. In my case the sockets were actually torn off of the circuit board...
Anyone know where I might find a rack handle for a Randall RT2/50? I just picked one up, but it's missing a rack handle.
Also, anyone ever have trouble with the bias points? I think someone jammed some really large leads in this one - two of the channel one points were loose and flopping...
I'm preparing to replace the pots on a Top Boost module, and I'm wondering how to get the face plate off - the bright switch lever is too big to fit through the hole - does it screw off?
Thanks in advance for your time.
Thanks everyone for the responses and advice. I am running some old glass in the Judge - a GE branded (made it Great Britain - could it be ...) 12AX7 and a Sylvania. Sounds great - I'm just not used to running the gain full out and still wanting a little more.
Luckily I have my trusty George...
Cool - thanks! I guess it's a another case of the old Fletcher-Munson curve faking me out.
You're right about the gain - it stays clear when dimed, and I can punch it with my George Lynch Time Machine boost if that's not enough.
Just picked up a GTO/The Judge module. It sounds really good, but I have a couple of questions for anyone else who has/had one:
1. Should there be a volume drop when switching the mode switch to the right? (mine does this).
2. Where should it be gain-wise? Mine doesn't seem to have the...
Thanks for the replies, folks. I did spray some DeOxit on the board connectors before I put 'em back in. I'm gonna pull the Deluxe module out to try another tube swap (5751 this time), hopefully it'll be easier and I can save my money to buy some new modules. :)
Woo Hoo! Success at last. Man, I had to put my knee up against the amp and pull with all my might. It's out, though - maybe after a few swaps it'll loosen up. :D
