I had the head version of the PT1000II,it was a VERY 55 LOUD watts,6L6,EL34 switchable. It did sound much better w/EL34's in it.
Other than the tubes being switchable the gain voicing knob pulled to allow for a different frequency shift and it rocked hard.
Unfortunately for me after a few years it started giving me ALOT of problems w/crackling and horrible breakup?Spent $100's on having it diagnosed,4 different techs all said they "fixed" it which made it worse for sure..Bought it new for $695
I've been told by a few of them that there were ALOT of bad solder joints on my particular unit.;I had to part ways with the amp and I was quite unhappy about it.
I also own a PT2000 (100 Watt Version) Head and have been using that since the day I bought it brand new.I had to replace the clean channel volume pot but NO other issues ever.Got this new in 1997 for $1,200?
It's ear deafening loud, after 2 it really does hurt and no one else in the band can hear themselves.
Running it through a War Head 4X12,loaded w/Vintage 30's
Sound guys always compalin,It's too loud.. However I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound ever since new.
I also own a V2 400 Watt Head. This I bought used for $750,it 1 month old and half the price of new. HAD to buy it...LOL
I'll NEVER buy another brand amplifier as long as I play.
Anything else i ever bought I sold but always kept the Randall gear.
Good Luck w/your PT1000
