Yeah, and those high-gain clips Ola posted with the Kemper sounded pretty damned good. That's part of the reason I sold the Axe lol I'm pretty sure the Axe II has more processing power than the Kemper, so if Cliff can figure out the profiling (which he apparently had working prior, but thought the modelling approach yielded better results), I imagine it will do it pretty well (though he mentioned an external mic pre would be needed, since the Axe dosent have a mic input). Still, if he pulls it off, Kemper will be in a tight spot, I imagine, and will have to react, much like Cliff and Fractal did. It's going to be an interesting year in the modelling world hehe I just felt like it was time to bow out of it for awhile and enjoy an amp that has KNOBS and doesn't completely change how it sounds every few weeks (firmware!)

I'm with you on that. One of the firmwares ruined my main patch with a recto red and I never got it to sound the same.

P.S.
I STILL NEED A RT2/50!

IF YOU HAVE AN RT2/50 PLEASE PM ME BEFORE YOU POST YOU HAVE. My last deal was within 30 seconds of being done and got poached right out from under me. I would like to not have this happen again because apparently not everyone has the same board courtesy. Both sides of this was all jacked up. SO PLEASE PM ME. I have been looking for a good deal on this amp for 3 months and thanks to me someone else got one from my post.

If you want power for the AxeFX you should seriously consider a full-range power amp, rather than one tuned specifically for guitar like the RT2/50. The AxeFX is supposed to provide all aspects of the tone, including poweramp tone. Ideally, you'd just want to amplify the signal as evenly as possible, and amp made specifically for guitar won't do that. If you want to hear the AxeFX in it's truest form you'll need something more hi-fi or meant for sound reinforcement. Check out Carvins SS PA amps.

I have a carvin and a mosvalve 500 that are both solid state and they sound crappy compared to just running it through any of my 4 tube amp heads power sections. It's a good unit for direct tone but as far as running it through a poweramp as a preamp it is a struggle to get it to really sound like a real amp. Most guys who use it live just go straight direct but I like having I good sounding setup through a cab also. Ty Tabor is using it live with his Randall 2/50's so it should be good enough for me. About 90% of dudes who use it live just don't bother with the poweramp and cab. They take a nice little light rack on tour now.

That looks pretty bitchin'. 8)

And my understanding is that Ty only runs power amp & cab simulation on the AxeFX output running direct to the mixing board and PA (FR). The output that goes to his standard guitar (non-FR) tube power amps and cabs on stage is preamp sim only.

Welll... yes and no.

You can simply turn off the poweramp/cab modeling on the Axe ... then you should use a guitar poweramp (and speakers).
Or you could keep it on and use a full range amp and speakers.

.... or you could use a proper amp  ;)

I was never into the AxeFX, but as this convo continues I get more and more turned off by it... The modular tube gear is just better for me...

Yep, me too, although I see the attraction.

I'm still a big fan of the 4CM though, best of both worlds! :D
