All else being equal (i.e. if the MTS mod REALLY DID sound as good as the real amp), and you could pick up the real amp used for roughly the same price as the module, I still might go with the module. More amps not only means more stuff in your life, but also more tubes you need to buy on a regular basis, more potential maintenance, etc.

Which is just one more reason to love the modified modules and the RM100!

:D

On the other hand, I wouldn't sell an amp I already had to fund a purchase of the equivalent module unless I was gonna make at least $400 or $500 in profit on the deal.

Hard to say for me,you dont have to replace tubes that much, especially if you dont play alot of live shows...I had every intention of selling my Kstein plus head when I got a Krank module...I had a Stein and a Kranken....both were cool, the Kranken coming closest to the real amp,but the real amp just sounded so much better when I would rehearse with them,so I sold the modules and kept the head...lol....it may be becasue I was so familiar with the Kstein....Im sure if I just heard the amp and liked the tone I would have been happy with the module......

I would need an extra house to hold all the amps I want.

I love my MTS! One amp, hundreds os sounds.

That being said. Nothing beats the real thing.

I dunno...I'd rather have my EV Trilogy than a real Peavey 5150.

I would like to hear some good clips of the trilogy in regard to the closeness in tone to the 5150 III becasue that sounds so different than the I and II...The clips ive heard of it sound ok,just sounds like alot of other modern metal recording, lacks the distiction and character in tone...

As far as that goes, I couldn't really tell you. I've never played a 5150III, and so far I'm not blown away by the III mode on the Trilogy. However, I can say without reservation that the I mode sounds far better than the 5150 combo that sits in my rehearsal space (not my amp).

Yeah,I liked the S1SO alot better too...it was much more articulate than the real 5150 was.....

As I stated, I own a Legacy. I still want to have a Legacy type module. I cannot fire up my Legacy and have access to several other tones, but with my RM4, I can. Plus, I can use a different power amp with the module.

Also note that the Presence is not *really* a presence control on the Legacy I; it is not in the negative feedback loop.

I have an old twin and a deluxe as well as a bunch of other cool amps. They sit in my garage. I now carry my RM4 to all gigs. I would love a real legacy but would not buy one b/c I would have to carry it. If someone makes a Legacy module, I would be the first in line to get it. I have a digitech modeler and also had a POD Pro and both of them had Legacy models that I could make sound good with enough tweaking but they always felt funny, which is why I love the MTS stuff. I have two modules into Rob's shop and when he is done with the amp show....well, who knows? It sure sounds like a groundswell of support for one. I would love to cop one of those old Carvin guitars from the late fifties pr early sixties!

I'm working on sourcing one now for R&D, so if anyone has a lead on one for a great price email me. A modular version will be in the works shortly after.

This is just terrible news.

Can't wait!

Make sure you don't get an amp that has a sticker in it saying "Rob, please don't copy this amp." LMFAO
You know you have my 100% support, Rob, and if I hear of an amp I will sure get you the info. I would hope there is someone in your area that could loan you one. from all of the responses on this thread, this is one amp that people have been wanting for a while, self included. For a while I thought there must be some kind of anti Carvin snob factor as I never heard about and Carvin mods. good luck on this one!

Now I normally won't ever get in the middle of that kind of BS, but that comment made me spit up the coffee I was drinking when I read it.

I am trying to reach a guy on Craig's list that had one close for a good price about a month ago. Hopefully it's still around. If so I'll go get it this week.

I have limited time on these amps, but always respected them. It's worthy of a moduleIMHO. A similar module that had zero interest (I only made one) was the Crate-inspired "Blu Juju" module. Say all you might about Crate, but when I grafted that preamp onto a modular platform it was a killer mod. Completely overlooked, but not because it was a bad tone. It did metal exceptionally well.

I love my S1S0, and put it to the test with my buddies 5150. He even liked the sound of the salvation better. Not sure how it compaires to the 5150II or 5150III though.

Alot of people loving the Triligy! I may have to pick one up and cheak it out

Cant wait to see this one come through. I think Carvins are very over looked, mainly because of their factory direct business since that gets a ton of respect from me. The Valve Master I had was well built and reliable and the tone was what a super warm tube tone is supposed to be. Very plexi-ish but modded for clearity and fullness. The gain channel was good too but I preferred pedals. I have never played a Legacy but an XTC tone will always be in demand for me. Bring it on Rob!!

Really like Carvin stuff, just not alot of appeal because you have to order it to try it and rarely see it 2nd hand....I have a few of their guitars and they are awesome...every bit as nice as any Gibson,Fender PRS,etc out there and comparatively alot less money...amps are great as well,Ive had a few doffernt ones and they are all great sounding...actually considering getting another V3....

Which is why I LOVE it....ive thought about asking you about a tight switch to add a little more versatility to it, but I think I like it the way it is. Had it been modeled after or named something else, I bet you would have sold alot more of them.

maybe, but again comes down to the fact that you can buy a BLue voodoo head used for about $300 most of the time,so most guys just dont see spending that for a module....they are great amps though...I had a later edition black one, built much better than the earlier blue ones......very underappreciated amp

Rob,

I'd be very interested in a Legacy module and would love to sign up for one. May I suggest the Steve Vai paint swirl as a faceplate? I'm not sure if you can incorporate multiple channels into the module, but here's what I understand about the Legacy series (correct me if I'm wrong).

Legacy: This is Steve Vai's Lead tone that he's known for. For additional gain, he would boost it with a Boss DS1. He didn't love the clean channel on the amp, so the MKII was created-

Legacy MK II: Brand new amp with highly improved clean channel which vai loved, but the Dirty channel wasn't to his liking and he reverted back to the MKI, so the MK III was created-

Legacy MKIII: This is a 3 channel amp, housed in a lunchbox format, 100 watts and sounds great to my ears. It has the Clean channel from the MKII. It has the Dirty Channel from the Original Legacy. It also has an additional 3rd channel (shared EQ with the dirty channel and added extra gain).
