Good question. The loops on the RM 100 are line level and there are some great delays out there that can be used without a line level shifter.I'm using a G system with my M4 RT2/50 and love it,but it's pricey and you definitely don't have to go that big.Good topic and can't wait for everyone to chime in. :D

G Major in parallell loop?
A real popular one on this board it seems.

So with the Egnater m4 all effects have to go through the front of the amp,so does the g system have an effect loop? how do u have your system set up?all my pedals are in a gcx switching system but my rack mount delays and chorus, flange and phase pedals use to run through the effects loop of my mesa mkIII, this is the first amp ive had with out an effects loop, Ive even thought of getting a randall RM4 but they cant be modded for dual channels as far as i now.

Guitar>tuner>G system input>insert send >M4 input>M4 output>insert return>L and R output of G system to RT/250 G routes some effects threw the front and inbetween the 2.Now back to topic :D

Yup, DD20 because it's line level. I have one for sale, asking $170 obo. The DD20 allows you to store four different presets, and you can do tap tempo. It sounds great in the Randall loop. Most delay pedals are instrument level - and they won't sound good in the loop.

I am using boss DD-7 and im quite pleased.i also run an external foot controler for foot taping tempo.it has all i need plus it sounds nice on RM100.

What is everybody's opinion on Analog vs Digital delay pedals? I'm looking for spacey clean tones, Pink Floydish delay w/ distortion that has a huge atmosphere, and John Petrucci-like singing lead delay. Any suggestions? I keep hearing about MXR Carbon Copy and the Boss DD series.

What advantages does line level provide? I'm not really sure what it means.

So is LINE LEVEL the level coming out of the pre amp before the amp and is that where you are placing Delay and reverbs and what others? Is that why the Egnater M4 has no effect loops?

Yes,not sure why Bruce took the loops out ,but I don't think it needs it.

They took the loops out of the M4 because it's a redundancy. Since the M4 is only a preamp and it is going to have to feed a power amp anyway, the logical spot for effects is in line between the output of the preamp and the power amp. An effects loop is the exact same thing in this situation, so it's a needless redundancy. You may argue the need for a parallel loop, but IMHO the series effects setups work MUCH better with the MTS gear anyway. Every time I have tried to use the Parallel loops in any of my rigs (RM50, RM100 and RM4) I get weird phasing issues even after the effect are set up correctly (ie:100% wet). I tried both my Xpression and a Lexicon unit I used to have and both were terrible in the parallel setups.

Thanks some great info.just proves i dont know everything. So guess i will set up my system with the M4 in the middle of my GCX with delay,eq, phase and flanger at the end half and boost, distortion and chorus before the preamp. just have to work out my second M4 running into a separate rt2/50 and cab to run at the same time. Guess i have some serious mapping to do with my 2 gcx's and other stuff. WOW sounds like time for asprin and paper...lol

I prefer Analog over digital. Has a warmer sound to me and you can get some weird sounds when tweaking the knobs while playing, remove the delay pot and replace with a quarter inch jack for an expression pedal for live controlling. to me digital has more of a sterile sound but TC Nova has some great delay efffects. i have a ibanez dm1100 that has 9-11 panasonic chips in it and it has a warm sound, warmer than my mxr 1500 rackmount . would luv to have a tc 2290 but dont have that kind of money just for delays.

The MXR Carbon Copy sounds REALLY incredible - especially for subtle/Floyd-vibe wash of sound. It can do a lot more, but especially great for that soul-echo kind of tone.

I've been playing the Rocktron Short Timer for years. It sounds equally incredible (it is a digital delay that replicates an analog unit) and can do the same kind of 'wash' of sound.

The only problem is that the input/output jacks can be crummy. I try to keep em' clean and use cables with fat jacks.
