Do you know of any multFx units that crossfade???
Ya know...from one program you choose to another??
I am tired of my sounds getting cut when I make a change!!

Years ago the Rocktron Repllifex and Multivavlve had "spillover" on their presets...but I'm not sure if the quality is there due to my experiences with the Intellifex and Replifex. Though Marty Friedman was known to have used the Multivalve, same unit as Repli but with a tube I believe

There must be more contemperary units that do this

I hate when my tails get snipped, too. As stated above, a lot of Rocktron gear has spillover, or seamless program change. I know the following units can have seamless program change to some degree and I'm sure there's more. A lot depends on how you program, number of processors per unit, and whether or not individual FX can be muted or bypassed from their send(s).
Check these out: :)
Rocktron Xpression(?), Replifex, MultiValve
TC GMajor, GForce, GSharp
Digitech GSP1101 (TSR24, GSP2101 w/ dual s-disc)

Im thinking more about the G series...
alot of guys here seem to like them...I wonder how they compate to a Boss GX700??? Im pretty handy with those. But the GX700 cuts your tail off. UGH!!!

I notice tiny bit of aliasing noise on some of my Boss GX700 programs. You really have to listen for it, but it is there sometimes, mainly on solos I play and on the attack of certain notes. Listeners cant hear it..but I can, very, very slight.

Is the G major better?

this is where I need your advice:
There is always something lacking...
the replifex is cheap (used), but doesn't do any intelligent harmonizing.
the G major is liked, but so many have units that are unreliable!
plus, none of the stuff I read mentioned seamless program changes.

The Boss GX700, I like, and own..but no seamless program changes, and its on its last legs.

Its been like 12 years since those units came out..haben't the companies done better since then??????

Here's my take on the GMajor:
I owned one for a few years and tried tweaking as much as I could. It has a lot of great features including the interface, but overall, it was too sterile for me--mainly modulation and reverb. Also, the data wheels are a joke. Maybe they've fixed them and got better ones now.
As for seamless program change, the GMajor gives a choice of FX muting (hard or soft). Hard, cuts everything from previous preset and Soft sort of crossfades into the new preset. However, when I tried this, it was too soft and the new preset I switched to faded in too slow.

The Replifex is great for just about anything but the pitch shifting/harmonizing FX, although, it will do it. The Intellipitch would solve your problem there while the Replifex would handle everything else. The Replifex is a really good unit. Jerry Cantrell used one with a Bogner Fish for live in the '90s.

The GSharp will let you "spill over", as long as, the next preset uses the same FX as the one you're switching from. Could be useful at times, but not the greatest setup.

Have you checked into the Digitech gsp1101? I remember Jimosity going on and on about how great it is. It's supposed to have seamless program change. There's also the TSR24--it's useless to you if it doesn't have the 2nd processor chip/card.

Hope this helps, at all.

To audioholic: I would expect it to work well...its freakin EXPENSIVE!!!

To Sacred: again we seem to walk down a similar path...
Yeah I have some TC gear, and its a bit cheezy. And sterility just isnt my thing....
I guess I will look more into the replifex....
again, its been like 12 years since the replifex, and its kin....
and computing power has grown like 100x, so why isnt there anything better on the market at a reasonable price point???

..with the newer chip set...and its pretty cool...but I never got used to programming it. Im a pretty smart guy and it beat me!!!!!!!!!
And even at that, I dont recall and spillover options in the menus...but hey, last i powered it up was like 10 years ago. Am I missing something?

Which unit are you referring to?

I was refering to the TSR24S...that unit confounded me. Its actually said in the manual to get out a pencil and paper if you wanted to edit your own sounds...
DAUNTING!!!!
..at least to me.

bump...
Im still trying to find a replifex. No luck, yet. And I am starting to doubt they would be transparent..considering when they were made.
Am I wrong?
The Boss Se-70 takes bite outta my sound, makes it anemic. The Boss GX700 is ok...but takes a little bite out, but the effects arent that good, to be honest. Harmonizer is usable, though.
Ugh!!!

anbody care to add their thoughts on this?

I use a Digital Music Corp (original) Ground Control as a footswitch. That tells the Rm4 and the effects units messages via MIDI.
Regarding the sends...I take the signal out of my Rm4 post outs. I run one of those wires to the in of my Boss Gx700, and I take the other post out and run that to ANOTHER Boss gX700. I I own 2 Gx700s and run them this way to achieve a good stereo effect. Its a shame but each Gx700 has just a single input.
Does this info help?

I believe the GX700 can utilize instant access switching via the Ground Control. That way you could toggle your delay or reverb on/off and let the tails fade naturally.

Another option is to get a line mixer and switcher/looper like a GCX, Patchmate, or Rolls RP93. This way you could run your RM4 and GX700s parallel to each other in the mixer and use the looper to switch from one GX700 to the next. This way, your tone will be totally intact and your FX will trail off by cutting the send.

I spend about 5 hrs on the sound yesterday. Alot of intense focing, and rewiring things etc.
Although the Ground control CAN do the indiv fx on/off thing...I am not found of that, only because I tend to do alot more radical tone changes..where EVERYTHING changes quickly. I like to do that alot..and in a cover situation I like to do it alot, as well.
The idea of a mixer and such is great, and I have tried that in the past. But unfortunately the Boss GX700 do take a bite out of my sound. Its not alot..but It bugs me. Most people would never notice. In addition, my tastes have changed since 1996 when I bought the GX700s. I have used them extensively, and have had many many compliments. And Ive used live, studio etc ..in the end, they dont allow me to pursue the spound I hear in my head these days.
I think, like you I try to be a few years ahead of the curve. I may not sell out the Garden, but people who like what I do know I give it my absolute best when I play live.
thanks for your advice, and again your recent material sounds strong.
I dont do what yoy do...but I respect your work big time.

I'm in the process of going back to a parallel set up. Not only is it good for the original tone, but the options of FX routing and utilizing 2 or more processors is just unstoppable.

Hope you figure it out. I'm glad to help as I'm a bit of geek about signal flow.

Thanks again checking out my newest tune. I actually finished writing and recording the scratch tracks this weekend.

I used my GrailPlate this time.
