Well it arrived.... the Friedman Brahma. Ok so here it is.. Randall def. did not get the spec right but they also weren't that far off. I think the spec is not correct because they likely wanted to use the same PCB. That said, this spec is not that far off from the later Brahmas (not to be confused with one of the first i had which was HORRIBLE) but there are some differences which bring out clarity.

So on to the module.. Warning for the feint of treble and cut.. this is not a module for you if you already think the standard Brahma is too thin. This one for me is roughly the same gain wise as my stocker but only appears to have more gain because it is more prominent in the mids and has more definition. I would say that this is def. a BigBrewtus/Kapo type of module for that reason. Marshall crunch but sweet high mids without getting too spikey. I like it. Will it completely replace my stocker? No.. I think that one sounds a bit better with the gain rolled back. Does it to a really great hot plexi? Absolutely.. so for that it is in the lead for me. I flip flop from day to day but i could see this one becoming my fave.

For fans of the judge.., that one is hanging in for me as well now since I swapped some sozos in it. It is fatter but also more clear now. I like it. So in order of faves:

Stock Brahma- Freidman corrected spec Brahma

My Mr. Brownstone Module

Hilligan SL+ (mainly because it is a one trick pony for me doing the AFD thing)

The Judge

Thanks for reading though I'm sure nobody will really care but in case you wonder about the Friedman magic, now you know. I seem to be a fan not of total module reworks but just slight differences in values on standard boards. Sometimes simpler is better and it really seems to be doing it for me as of late.. 8)

Thanks Kapo- Sounds like you are happy with it- Thats all that matters. If a module has more mids and definition- its an improvement in my book-regardless of the module.

Thats exactly what this one has rblyn. More mids and definition.
I agree with Kapo that sometimes simple stupid is best. I only use about
half gain on this module. I like more clarity than gain. A great 3 channel
match is my Peacemaker, stock Brahma, and the DF Brahma. Great
Marshall goodness from clean to mean.

Thanks for the review, Kapo. I'm actually looking for a good Marshall crunch/Plexi module, so your expertise and review is very informative for me :) I actually had a Brahma (white face plate) and really liked it! Would like to pick up another at some point
