G2 Series RH200SC 2 x 4x12 cab question

Hi all,

Been using this amp with matching RA412 cab (celestions) for a long while now (about 3 or 4 years i think) for both live and recording etc.

The head has 4 outputs (2xleft and 2xright) to power 2 4x12 cabs, however as mentioned i've only ever been using 1 4x12cab which has been more than ample.

I just wondered after all this time IF i decided to buy another 4x12 cab for it, would the volume basically double OR would it just be evenly distributed through both cabinets?

Any help would be appreciated

hello adam. the volume would be evenly distributed with 100w on each side, i believe. otherwise the amp would require two separate power amps. two cabs will make the sound project further, however. I own one of the Generation 1 RH200's that has the silver control plate and spring reverb. it really is a great amp, and its built like an armored vehicle. it will overheat at high volumes, but taking the back cover off helps a lot.

As it happens its just half died on me. Just sorting out a repair now.

The right hand channel wont work ie the 2 left speakers (top and bottom) in my 4x12 cab not working.

Checked the cab and its not the speakers.

The other channel works fine.

Just sorting a repair out now, but i'll be honest. it IS built like a tank and HAS put up with a lot of high volume gigging and practicing. It even survived full pratice last night hammering through just one channel.
Cant wait to get it fixed.

Well since you have the Generation 2 RH200, overheating isn't as big of an issue as it is in the Gen. 1 series RH200's like mine. If you do get a second cab, and the amp is repaired, try speading the speakers apart from one another. It really intensifies the chorus effect.

Just found out from my local guitar store (that have a guy that can fix amps depending on the problem). He cant fix my amp. Has to go to a specialist.

The guy said when he looked inside the chassis was bent and one of the channels was blown. He asked if i'd ever dropped it. I said no.

Truth is that it HAS had light knocks into doors etc but normal on the road type knocks. NEVER has it been dropped.
I'm not tech minded with amps, but i think he mentioned that its the transistor that is mounted to a flimsy circuit board and if its not been dropped then its probably just fatigue and gradual movement and the weight of it on the circuit board thats caused it to bend.

Spoke to a local amp specialist that happens to be within 20 miles from me. Dropping it off tomorrow with him so hopefully with it being solid state and the fact this guy has worked on amps since the 50's he can sirt it relatively cheap otherwise it'll mean me buying a new one if it makes financial sense.

Hope he can fix at decent price as the sound from the G2 definately embarrases a lot more costly amps/rigs
