I'm wondering how everyones running their amps, I heard some where the master volume is an audio pot? so does that mean turning up the preamp level also brings up the power amp level and then the master simply brings that volume down?

I've found it sounds better with the master around 1:30 and the preamp levels down on my RM100, sorry about the stupid question

I tend to run my mod levels around noon since all my f/x are in the parallel loop (G-Major). Then I set the amp master to however angry I want my neighbors to be with me.

But like you said, bo what sounds better to you. It's your tone do with it what you will.

I think thats a great question..because how you play with gain-structure really affect your tone and PLAYABILITY when working with Tubes.
I had a great tones at last weeks rehearsal..this week..not so much..and i think its because the way I worked the pre and Master volumes.
Any advice????

I like to crank the Master and adjust the volume from the mod levels, it seems to drive the power amp harder. But i like to hear what others are doing.

I always adjust the module volume according to what I'm doing---FX in the loop or not. If FX in the loop obviously have to keep it in the unity gain zone. If no fx, I find that you can really overdrive the power amp driver tube by cranking the module volume and really fatten up any module.

I floor the master at least to 3 oclock and then use the modules to my liking of TV to part my hair!

I set my RM50 up the same

So how about RM4/RT250 users?
Crank up the power amp and use the Preamp master or other way round?
And yes, I found my modules sound better at about the 1-2 o'clock range.

I run my RT at about 2 or a little over, something about the level on the power section that really starts to open the sound up.....
