Pete Do you have a MOD for the Ultra Lead to an Ultra, I dont see any mods for the ultra lead anywhere nor does anyone speak of it much. Whats up with that.

Alright, I'm kind of inexperienced in all of the amps that people compare things to. This is my first tube amp. Therefore, I have no basis on which to compare my sound. Does anybody feel that the SL+ is sort of.. how can I describe it.. muddy or fuzzy? It just sounds like something is missing. I'm not sure if this is normal or not - and there's nowhere around here to check out other mods besides the bandslink clips which, for some reason, don't run on my computer. I have to find another computer to ever check the tones and cannot listen near my amp. By the way, I haven't played the amp any higher than about 1/2. I'm using Electro-Harmonix EL34 power tubes.

Also, while I'm at it, I'm going to be working overtime this Summer so that I can start investing in effects and the sort. I have a 1st generation Line 6 POD, but I haven't been able to work anything out of it that sounds good. I have just been running my guitar straight to the amp. Does anybody have any sort of recommendations for the Randall RM50? I've been thinking about possibly getting a Visual Sound H2O pedal... but I've never heard it before. Forgot to mention, the amp doesn't have reverb.

Sorry for the long post. :?

Rellik...
hey man..I know how you feel. There is alot of talk..and not a whole lot of clips that give one a sense of what each module sounds like in your hands. There is no blame to it...its just hard to make clips that will work for everybody. Believe me..I tried.
The SL+ is a module I dont quite get. Many love it, but so far I havent found a great use for it. Nearly all say its basically a Marshall Super Lead sound (this is what Tom Scholz used on the Boston songs, although he also used alot of fx, and trickery). It is basically a high gain marshall. Like ones made and used in the 1990s.
I STRONGLY recomend you try the module in many different ways. These modules sound or bad very much depending on how people use them. My Plexi wasnt much till I learned how to use it. A simple setting of the master volume, or the modules output volume can make a serious difference...especially at high volumes.
Fx???? I would get some basic stuff first. If you dont have reverb Boss makes a few reveb pedals that eat batteries but sound great. A delay unit also goes a long way to making tone soooo much better. I think an EQ pedal is also a great tool to have. I have many, many pedals...But I get most of my sound by running my modules and power amp in ways that just sound so good they dont need much.

how come i always feel my Ultra Lead doesn't hv enough gain n too depth... when i compare it with my 1086??

is that bcoz i just play them with bed room volume??
