hey guys. My RM100M has started picking up radio.

I originally thought this could be my guitar, but i tried it on other amps etc, and it was just the MTS. Also tried different cables etc. I'v ebeen advised it could be the pre-amp tubes? (are these the ones in the modules?)

Any help would be great!

I'm not sure why it would be doing that, but yes, the preamp tubes are in the modules. I also had this happen one time about 2 months ago jamming at a friends house, but it was very faint.

physically move the amp

i had this happen once with a couple different amps

I can't say why/how but i know when i moved it even an inch or two it went away.

Hey good news is that u dont need a radio anymore and u can play ur favorite songs.

lol jk

i hav these problems sometimes. I moved my half stack from downstairs to upstairs. and no problem. havent gotten a radio channel since.

Good luck

Are you using any pedals? Does it do the same thing with your guitar straight into the amp?

I tried a Morley ABY switch several month ago and as soon as I turned on my amp, instant radio. I removed the Morley from the signal chain and the radio went away. I also switched all my instrument/line-level cables around and made sure that no radio was audible. Put the Morley back in and boom! Instant radio.

Yeah....I too hear the Preacher on the "radio" preaching gospel when I am trying to play. Thought it was the Devil at first!! Maybe drank too much?
But I too hear the PREACHING RADIO station on my Lynch box!! Telling me to PLAY IT LOUD BROTHER!!!!! :D

I thought about posting on this very topic many times, but fought off the urge. Now I know I am not crazy!

This has happened to me both at the house I used to rent and in the house we practice at. Both with my RM100 and RM50, but never my rack rig. Here's the kicker: these houses are 45 miles apart! I now live right between these houses and it doesn't do it here. To top it off, it is always the same thing, a preacher/sermon and the station ID is for South Carolina....I live in Central New Jersey!

It's tough enough to get the Philly and NY radio stations here!

Thought it was related to my pedal board, but nothing seems to clearly be the culprit. I was only running a Crybaby, Boss TU-2 and ISP Decimator. I recently added a BBE Boosta Grande and Xotic BB+ Preamp. The biggest improvement I saw was when I just started plugging into my pedals and not using the loop in my Furman pedalboard.

I remember hearing years ago that you could put a piece of Tin Foil / Aluminium Foil (what you have in your kitchen drawer / cupboard) over the input and plug in through that to get rid of this problem. I haven't tried it myself. I remember hearing it from a guy who was doing a small tour and ran into this problem in some small bars he was playing in.
Cheers

Interesting discovery at my last practice about this. I have higher end cables though out my rig, but tried swapping out the cable between my pedal board and the head. The high end Monster cable was quiet, as was the Mogami cable. The Planet Waves cable was the culprit, but....

one end of that cable is marked "Shielded End" and the other is not. Swapped the cable around so that the shielded end was plugging into the amp and problem solver yet again. So it seems you need to make sure you have either shielded ends on your cable or at least the end plugged into the amp must be. The key is the ends, not just the cable alone (which almost all cables today are anyway).
