Name says it all really.
I turned my RM100 up to a quarter of the way up on the master volume with the level on the modules all past 12o'clock.

It's sounded shrill, and very thin/ear piercing. Yet at the same time, it had too much bass. This happens on all three modules (Recto, XTC, and Plexi). The settings we're all modest also. Bright switch off, gain at 7, mid at 4, bass and treble at 5. Presence and density also at 5.

I'm running an Epiphone LP custom into the Rm100, and the Rm100 into a Behringer bg412v cab.

So please guys, what is it that's making my amp sound unbalanced and bad?

Well that's what I thought too.
I thought maybe it was the cab for the highest ear piercing part, and the guitar for the bass part, but I'm not certain.

I haven't been able to play through another cab yet either.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

honestly speakers make so much difference I'd start there before thinking about anything with the amp.

Behringer cab is CRAP!

I'd say that the speakers matter a lot more than the cab

Speakers are just the stock Bugera ones.
And the amp is made of MDF, so yeah, it's not that great.

Sounds like you're setting your amp for lower volume then expecting it to sound the same when you turn up. Why not dial in less highs, less lows, more mids and watch where your presence and depth controls are?

Pete

turn down your presence and density first, bring those in if you need them. dial in by ear and at what volume you play at. Speakers and Cab make a HUGE difference

If I were you I would look for a Marshall 1960 locally.

Can be had between $250-450.

Then find someone to trade 2 G12T75s for 2 V30s.

If you still have problems THEN to look to the amp, right now your weakest link is your cab/speakers.

this is what I?m talking about - Bugera speakers are shits (cheapest crap from china), first aid is change it for something normal (V30, greenback etc) or of course change whole cab....in USA you have astronomic amount of chances get some used one for dream price (imagine Europe where everything is usually 2-3x more expensive! ;)
only note: Bugera amp is really not bad, but the speakers ...wasting of time

I can attest that my Bugera amp is a good sounding amp, build quality isn't great but its sounds good.

Here in the US you can find a Marshall 1960 on the cheap like crazy.
Theres really no excuse to have a lesser cab.

I actually live in Australia.

So hyenik, I can imagine Europe and how everything costs twice as much.

As for the used 1960a, I don't really like them. Flame me all you want, but I haven't been a Marshall lover much. The cabs are made out of chip board, to me that's just not reasonable for such a high regarded company.

I'm looking into a Randall 2x12 or 4x12 as of now though.
And about the highs/lows. When I turned the amp up, I got rid of the presence boost and the density boost completely. Nearly got rid of the treble and bass fully as well. Still sounded unbalanced.

Maybe a new cab is in order. :(

Regardless of your opinion of Marshall cabs theres no way you could possibly convince me or anyone else here that it wouldn't be a big upgrade from the Behringer

No, I do agree that it would be an upgrade from the Behringer. But IMO there's better upgrades out there for the price.

get an avatar, cheap, best speakers , options, high quality all birch cab-400 bucks

$900 here actually.

I can get this for $500 though..

I would look around at used stuff.

Quality of my Randall cabs is good from my limited experience, mines been beat to hell and still feels solid.

Well there's not too many cabs on the used market locally. I'd much rather buy new too.
