When I posted my module porn thread, I thought it would be near impossible for a module to "bench" the S1S0, yet that is exactly what has just happened...
I got a Gigmods XTC from Pete yesterday. Straight out of the box, no matter where I turned the controls, great GREAT tone, dripping in rock attitude that made me want to play LOUD (as in I wanted to play loud, rather than it needed to be loud to sound good - it's actually great at any volume). It sounds so much better than even the clips of it on youtube.
Best of all, it's not just a rawk machine - has so much gain & clarity, with a cool mid-shift toggle, that I found it just as useful grinding with a 7-string as playing '80s rock riffs in A on a 6-string.
As far as comparisons with the S1S0 go, it doesn't sound like the S1S0 at all, but it does sound "BIG" in the midrange in a similar way to how the S1S0 in "I" mode with Fire off does. Almost without realising it, I found myself playing things that I go to that module for on the XTC.
This one's a keeper. Very happy
(I'll add pics when the wife brings the camera back... )
