Bruce,
sorry I dont know all the practical information behind my request. I do leave it up to guys like you to tell me what possible, and what's not. Thats why you are Bruce Egnater.
But I would respectfully ask you to keep it in mind. For guys like me (playing in the TriState area..there are alot of situations where 100 watts is to much. You have to push the amp to loud to get power amp distortion. 50 watts can usually do this at a lower volume..so very important because some clubs use db meters where I play.)
and I requested 3 modules because your design is soo good...you just force anyone to go beyond the medium and enjoy 3 good sounds all night long!!! (say goodbye to the "I got a fender for cleans, I got a Marshall for dirty).
Your work is to be comended. I eagerly watch what comes to market and only wanted to give you some earnest feedback about what I need, and I suspect others do, as well.
Thanks for reading my earlier post and this one.

It occurs to me that..
maybe the weight of our amps could be reduced if one could get speakers with neodymium into the combos. I have hears good reports about the radically reduced weight of these types of speakers. And good usable sound, according to posts Ive read. Cost? I dont know.
Just thinking aloud.

You could always do a swap on your own. I think Randall sells their Celestion Neos for about $80 on their website and I love them. The Randall cab I have loaded with them is like 35 lbs.....around half what my head weighs!

Jaded..its a good idea..but I use an Rm4...so my head is already seperate from my speaker cabinets...so it wouldnt help me out much.
My suggestion was aimed at helping Randall design a 50watt, 3 module combo with low weight, thats all.

I would be all over a 1X12 50 Watt MTS combo, I suspect it would be a big seller. At 77 lbs, my RM100 is too heavy. As mentioned above, even if it were almost as wide as the RM100, it could be made much lighter if a neodog speaker were used, but I do like the idea posted above even better-if it could be designed so the modules were stacked on top of one another like the RM4, you could have a four channel 50Watt 1X12. That would absolutely kill!

Rob, how do you like the sound of your neodog cabs compared to the G12T's or Vintage 30's? I am thinking of swapping out the G12-T's for neodogs to reduce weight. It would take my RM100 down to about 63 lbs.

An RM50 combo, stacked as stated above... 2 modules in one row and 1 module and the masters in the other, with a good single, light, neodymium speaker. Man, I'd be ordering one right NOW.

In the meantime, I'll wait for the perfect combo... and keep luggin' my heavy, crappy, fender combo and pedalboard around.... leaving my modules at home.

The main reasons I haven't bought an RM100c is the weight and I don't need that much power. The main reason I haven't bought an RM50c is that it only holds two modules.

Example: Marshall JVM 410H = 22 kg
Marshall JVM 205H = 17.5 kg

but it the 205H is one full preamp channel less than the 410H, and only weighs 10 lbs less. But if you added the fourth preamp channel you'd be adding another 3-5 lbs and so Bruce is dead on that the weight difference for a three channel 50W amp would be insignificant.

And a 212 cab weighs about 65 lbs anyway.

The side "vents" on the Lynch Box I use instead of the handle at the top.

Julia, you suck up! lol....
Maybe Bruce is right, heck maybe everyone is right except me. But for one minute, lets try to go beyond what Jim Marshall/Ken Bran have done and what Fender has done etc...
Maybe to resurrect an idea that Jess Oliver had, perhaps a head that attaches to the cab, but detaches for transportation? Maybe that might be an area to look into. In addition, neo speakers might also reduce weight. Also (and Im no expert on this but here goes..bravely thinking aloud..)
maybe the cab doesn't have to be made of wood. We now have other materials, maybe a carbon fiber would be lighter. I recall an amp made years ago by ART (yeah, those guys..) was made of carbon fiber. It was very strong..but the amp itself was SS and not a good SS circuit,imho...BUT it was light!
If a 3 module combo at reduced weight is not available now, Id like to "set the table" for people to consider that it can be done, and it IS worth doing.
Ya know, there was a time when everyone that you couldnt get a single amp to do both a great clean sound and a great dirty sound..well the MTS series, designed by Bruce, proved them all wrong!!!
Who knows what can be achieved in the future?
