I was at rehearsal Saturday and right in the middle of a solo my amp stop making noise. I have checked all the fuses and swapped all the tubes, which all light up. I have no indicators on the back saying I have any bad tubes. I have plugged my guitar straight in to the amp, changed guitars and cabs, and still no sound. Any suggestion guys?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

there are fuses inside the chassis...make sure those are okay as well. otherwise...plug into the effect return and just run through the power amp. if it works then...it's something in the preamp section.

Thanks for the advice. I plugged into the loop still no sound. I only found 5 fuses when I opened it up. Two on one side and 3 kinda in the middle. What should I try next?

Also check the connector on the standby switch, mine came loose, it was like the amp was in permanent standby mode no matter what I did. I'd also look harder for fuses, some of those are freakin' BURIED under wires and stuff!

Pete

Hey Pete thanks for the info. The speaker like connectors to my standby switch are snug. I have found 5 internal fuses are there more than that?

I didn't count last time, but there were a ton. I'm betting on a fuse then, for the B+. You are at least getting heater voltage (since tubes are lighting up). How are you checking the fuses? Visually or with a multimeter?

Pete

Meter on the fast blow and visually on the fast blow. I am going to meter them all right now. I have to get this fixed.

Metered them all, all good. Wellthe 5 I found anyway.

I had the amp setup with 2 el34s in the center and two 8ohm cabs with the impedance set at 4ohms. Right now I have 4 6l6s while testing nad one 8ohm cab w/ impedance back at 8.

I think there may be 7 fuses. Like okstrat says, they are very well buried. Also, check all of the spade connectors - one connecting to my power switch got loose and I didn't have sound. Also, are your power tubes lit?

I have had the same problem in the past few days actually. Mine were the fuses underneath the midi jack board. This is my first time blowing a fuse on my rm100 so can anyone tell me where I can score a new one? Also, all I could make out on the fuse itself was Sf 1.6L 250V. I know what the voltage rating is but can anyone let me know the other parameters I should know to replace it?

I have been meaning to post an update for some time now. I took it to the shop and they got it working. The tech told me there were some blown fuses under the board and some etching that needed to be repaired around the power tubes. It doesn't sound as sweet as it use to. (at least to me ears) The highend doesn't have the sustain or saturation I remember it having.

Thats what happened when I took my mesa to the local guy. that's what im afraid of now too that my randall is messed up

I had the same problem when one of my dual rec's came out of the shop. I sold that one for a new one. eventualy that one messed up and went to the hospital. When it came back, it lost something, and the fx loop wasnt working, so i sent it to mesa. It came back better than ever. I dont know if randall does stuff like that.

After listening to Pete's mods, i ralized it was somthin more like that - the amp was modded when I got it used and the when It blew, they fixed it back to stock and didn't even tell me that the parts were different. I never figurd out for months but maybe it was better transformers or somthing. it just sounded so clear and the distortion was just singing. Kind of like Pete's XTC mod- almost greasey - so smooth.

Anyway, the guy said the problem ended up being "etching" - what is that?
