hello

just got the RT 2 50 power amp today, and trying it out. I am using a fractal audio preamp going into the power amp, in stereo mode, and then going into a 4x12 left and right..

So, this stuff is not in the manual, so i have a few questions. First, in stereo, the channel 1 volume knob does nothing, and the channel 2 is what is controlling the output volume. is this normal for stereo mode? The presence and density for channel 1 seems to work, just not the volume.

Also, going into channel 1 and 2, will this give me a true stereo feed into my cab?

This amp runs very hot, I have it in a rack, that has no open slots in the front, but is open in the back. The rack is plastic, the amp is on the bottom, I am maybe worried if it will melt anything.

Thanks for the help

ok

so I figured out most of it, I had a bad cable going into channell 1, hence no volume, switched it out and now the volume channel is working. and then on my amp, I had to switch it to operate in stereo rather then mono.

Still have questions about the heat in my portable rack...

you could install small 80mm fans in the top using a purified DC voltage source.

wrap the voltage wires with a drill really tight, then shrink-wrap/shield them away from instrument cables inside.

imho they make low-noise PC fans.. just what i would do.

i would also consider using electromagnetic field wrap on the bottom and top of the pre-amp - like a blanket.

that will help keep the fans from causing any more noise than needed.

everything else a hush system would get rid of. and dual 80 mm fans blowing out would definately solve your heat issue.

check out frozencpu.com for some high-end cooling products and noiseless fans. just an idea dude.
