SL2 or SL with OD pedal in front?

Hey guys. Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a MOD50 head. I almost bought one a while ago but changed my mind and then the seller had a change of heart and decided to keep it. A while later someone else was pondering selling, but just couldn't decide. Well, he finally decided to sell and this time a pulled the trigger. Quick, lol!

Anyhow, has anybody A/B'd an SL module boosted with an OD pedal vs. the SL2 mod by itself? I know there are some who don't care for the SL2 module, so I'm wondering if they just run a boost or OD pedal with the SL to get into DiMartini / Lynch territory.

I have both mods, and for the kind of drive you're talking about, I would prefer the SL2. The SL is great, but I don't think it will get anywhere near as compressed as the SL2, even with a pedal.

For early Dokken and 80s metal SL2 is king, for later "Sacred Groove" and after Lynch stuff, go MHG.
