I want to put on my ACL limits DVD in my basement, make squishy faces in the mirror, and pretend I'm SRV.

Which modules would you guys recommend for SRV tone? Also, which TS808 type pedal is your favorite?

I use Tweed and Deluxe most of the time along an TS type of od when i want to play some SRV. I use the Visual Sound Jekyll'n'Hyde sometimes combined with an Xotic AC Booster for different flavor and feel.

I've also achieved good results with the Plexi by lowering the gain pot and adjusting volume on the guitar .

I used to have a Tweed (Bassman) mod that I bought specifically to get the SRV tone. It was "ok" but I thought the Deluxe mod had more of an old "Fendery" vintage mojo tone. So I sold the Tweed and I use the Deluxe mod for blues and classic rock tones as well as some clean tones. I have owned a dozen or so different modules and I think the Deluxe is one of the most versatile modules. The Brahma module, which is a low gain 68 plexi module, is also great for vintage, neck pick-up, blues tones. SRV did use both Fenders and Marshalls.

A little off topic? I?m sure some forum members already know this but for those that don?t, the first Marshall amps--the first prototypes--were copies of the Fender Bassman. If I recall correctly, the JTM45 evolved out of those Bassman influenced prototypes. I didn?t realize that until I read up on Marshall history a few years ago. I also didn?t realize until a couple of years ago that Randall was founded by Don Randall, co-founder of Fender Musical Instruments. Don Randall is credited with naming the Stratocaster and influenced amp and guitar design as well as being in charge of marketing. Don Randall who is a very unsung hero in the music industry.

+1 and, for SRV tone, Deluxe module, w/RM50, master volume all the way up, Presence and Density to taste, and, please excuse me for repeating this, raise your strings high enough so you can REALLY whack them, and lower your pickups, so they (again) REALLY let your strings ring, close your eyes, and let your fingers do the talking! Have fun! Pat L.

+1 on the Deluxe , run it with an Xotic AC Booster= very nice SRV tone :D
