Warhead X2 problems

Whats up guys, I have a bit of a problem with my X2 as the title suggests.

I got this amp second hand so it's out of warrenty but maybe someone here can help me out.

Whenever I switch into the Fry channel and turn the volume up around 3 or 4 or higher, I get a lot of popping noises. I rarely turn the amp up very loud but I recently took it into a shop to trade it in and the guy said that he had never heard it before.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem? Could it not be the amp at all and maybe my cab? I'm using the Randall 2x12 1x15 if that helps. It's the cheaper model also. I think all the speakers are eminence.

sounds like a loose solder joint.

take it to a tech that knows their **** and not "uuhh oh fooey never heard that before"

if you have enough technical background and/or balls to try and fix it yourself, do some research on draining the main caps.

also get a pair of chopsticks, and start tapping away on all the capacitors and resistors while the amp is fully on and volume turned up to a hearable level.

but yeah, thats my guess. if it was a bad pre-it would be extremely irritating hissing as soon as you jacked the volume up on your guitar to play (at loud volumes).

it it was a power-tube it wouldnt be working at all, or you would hear a drop in volume. so thats why i say its a specific component on the pre-amp board.

The amp is all solid state.

same holds true if its solid state or tubed or mix of both. loose or cold solder joints can happen either way.

id still recommend taking it in to get it fixed reguardless.
