I really like my Ultra XL for high gain, tight and aggressive tone.

UltraXL has more high end/higher mids so will sound more aggressive for sure.

Ultra XL is a tight high gain module, an superb module, but it only does one thing, high gain, but equally good for rythm and leads, just a bit bright so dial in with your ears.

I am not sure if its super aggresive though, I mean its awesome for palm mutes and the like, but it also has this smoothness to it that helps with leads and liquidy stuff, so I am not sure I would say its the most aggressive module, but its an awesome module stock

I am using a Ultra XL now while waiting for my 1086 to get back from Pete for modding. It sounds pretty good. Very tight sounding. But it dont touch that modded 1086!! That thing is in a class all to itself!! :twisted:

So out of the Grail, Ultra XL and 1086, the Ultra XL is the gainiest?

I can tell you right now, a stock 1086 does not have the gain you think it would

The stock Ultras I tried did have the gain!
