I've been looking into the 1086..it seems pretty versatile..

I'm looking for something to emulate the Metallica And Justice For all sound

The Grail is seems too rectoish..
The Mr. Scary seems too Soldonoish..

I'm thinking Modern or 1086??

The Kh's seem to make the most sense, but after listening to sound clips they seemed more old shool marshally.

The 1086 is tighter than the SL+ and Scary.

Mike

Does the 1086 have recto tones? or is it something different..Have no Idea what the guy from disturbed uses.

Also, would the Pete Recto Mod with the orange switch get me there?

when I play Peteorange, I don't think metal
I have the bass cap adjustment to tighten it up, but it's uses seem to be phat leads...rhythms you can get into some classic old school metal

but if you want tight modern metal---my new Pete1087 is everything you dreamed!

He did ask for a Justice tone...

my old school I was referring to early IMaiden, early Priest

Orange by itself is not AJFA, but probably in the mix with a few other amps running simultaneous

pete mod 1086...

mid switch has 2 DISTINCE voicings.

left is a scooped but still TRULY playable tone while my right side is super thick lots of low mids and darker....rectoish in my opinion.

Yeah, the Pete modded 1086 on the mid scoop side is DEAD ON JFA tone. We do Blackened and Shortest straw. Nail it dead on tone wise. Hammets leads....well thats a different story! 8)

I have a Ultra XL that has been modded that does super tight metal tone. Little more modern sounding then the JFA album tone but when I was using it for Metallica songs it sounded SUPERB. Very cutting tone and its nice to have a modern flavor when doing some of the older Metal songs. 8)

What exactly was modded about it? Just EQ/voicing?
I had Dave Tighten it up a little and add some lower end for CHUGGING and get rid of the shrilly highs. Still maintains the great killer gain and tight metal tone. But "sweeter" sounding. 8)
