Man, I miss that guy! He was awesome in Keel.

A simple that's what she said would suffice. Hehe...

On another note, if someone is willing to donate a module or $100, I'd gladly get you a clip of a full band using all three examples in a production setting (including Real drums and vocals). No phasing, comb filtering, or dogs to get in the way! (oh, and one of the singers is a contestant on Biggest Loser)

You guys still record real vocals? What year is this?

I agree. Tomorrow evening it could be done, since I have to wake up in 6 hrs

Would you like both through the same cab, or just speakers facing the same way?

Same cab would be best if you can do that.

Well, auto tune still exists...

I'll see what I can do. What's the best way to quickly edit a video clip on an iPad, to trim the plugging of the cab? I hate watching YouTube "test" clips of blabbering and fiddling before they get to actual tones.

Anyways, off to bed. Will continue this discussion tomorrow. Mike kinda ticked me off and I needed a moment to cool down. It's all good.

LOL. I thought you were joking!

Holy crap, you've posting serious responses since? I'm glad I didn't go all Kenny Powers. My apologies.

Apologies accepted. The first critique came off as kinda pretentious and bitchy, and there are very few things that irk me more than pretentiousness. Maybe arrogance and hipsters...

Oh well. Let's call it a reset. New clips. Tomorrow. iPad. (sorry, I need compensation to give y'all the good stuff)

The dude has his whole family involved in a film project and does not need Ropert & Ebert putting thumbs down

On a serious side, let's get a lab coat on and have an XTC WAR! Put a 57 on 1 cab and switch those heads/modules around, using congruent volume & eq

The Hilly sold yesterday and shipped today. I can still give us one of the Bogner and Salvo (2nd gen).

Yeah let's do the salvo vs Bogner. As for the clip, I found nothing wrong with the Bogner sound clips when the cab was facing us. I thought it sounded pretty good. Not perfect but it gave me enough of an idea because really what was important was the relation of the modules to the amp. If they were equally "******" than we'd know that they are spot on!

Don't worry about MikeP, he either likes something or it sucks 8) Just how he rolls and that is why we love him.

PS- priceless line about your wife lol... MikeP, sounds like you have a phone call to make. Give her **** for her lack of understanding that distortion is supposed to sound like more than noise. (because that is what it sounds like to GF's and girlfriends)

Ask (or gripe) and ye shall receive.

Chain:
Gibson 335--Bogner 101A/RM50--Bogner 4x12 V30 cab--sm57--API A2D--ProTools 9

Solo'ed guitars have NO EQ. Mix guitars have same EQ applied to both mixes. The riff guitar is the Dumble OD module in the rm50 combo with a few effects. I adjusted EQ and gain on each amp to match tones as closely as possible. They're not perfect, but it gives you a good idea of what can be done with a measley $350 amp...

Great examples - thanks for doing these! Pretty catchy tune btw, is that your vocals too?

Salvo might actually have the edge on tightness! I think i like it better than the real thing. Thanks for the clips. MikeP, how is the quality?

No problem. It took longer to figure out how to upload than it did to record. My studio machine isn't on the network and my laptop was down, so i had to get creative...

Not my vocals...I can't pull off pop punk too well hehe.

It's part of a new song by a band called My Side of the Story. One of the singers, Chism, is a contestant on this season's Biggest Loser.

Lol. It's still a work in progress, so we'll keep mix critiques with an open mind.

As for tightness, the Bogner was set to loose damping, and the Salvo had the tight switch disengaged. The Bogner clip had a palm muting f-up on my behalf in the beginning, so that might be what you hear in the tightness department. I noticed that the Bogner is slightly airier, but a few mix eq tweaks could easily take care of those differences.

Nice! My wife and I watch Biggest Loser every week it's on, Chism seems like a cool guy - had no clue he had vocals like that. Tell him I said good luck this season :)

I really want to try Anthony's version as well, currently have an SG XTC LE and it's right there with the Bogner too - buddy has a Bogner we A/Bed.

Yeah, the SG looks sweet. I just got the Salvation because it was offered at a great price.

Chism isn't the vocalist on that song, but rather the kid with the guitar on this video:

Chism is also singing in the video...
