Just thought I'd share these pics of my favourite modules. I wish they made an RM6 or an RM8 :)

(& don't even think of saying "dibs", these bad boys are here to stay!)

Get another RM4 and loop them in and out.

Great :D

What are the differences between the custom 3 and custom 3+?

3+ has Tight switch AND gate switch. Both options.
This is not possible on all modules, but on Custom 3 is.

Nice collection! Custom3 is great module.

Gotta love how the S1S0 just takes over every photo it happens to be in haha
Awesome man! :D

What do you use for crunch and cleans?

I have a stock Deluxe & stock Tweed for that, also an Engl E570 SE preamp (which is my "main" preamp).

I have MTS for tonal variation - the first thing I wanted was the "sag" of a Recto, and perhaps one or two other high gain options. Then I kinda got carried away in the Classifieds here & on ebay

Indicentally, the reason I have 2 Custom3s is that my favourite high gain sounds for both 6 & 7 strings are in that module, so I can quite happily run two side by side.

The key is the Dave/Marty switch (or 3/SE as labelled on mine) - Marty mode seems to suit having the Tight switch off & gives a dense, slightly loose, "liquid" (yet still very clear) sound that I love with Eb-tuned 6 strings; Dave mode with tight on is much more strident & punchy in the mids & suits 7 strings (or anything tuned <C#) perfectly.

As Anthony says, the 3+ has the Gate option as well as the Tight switch. I could have had the Crunch/Lead switch too, but chose not to because I hardly ever use Crunch.

I run 3 RM4s and an RT2/50...That RM12 is awesome except they skimped on the power amp - should've married it with RT2/50...I would have one now if they did...And the jury is out on whether or not the power amp can be truly bypassed- I've had officially been told no by both Randall techs and sellers alike...Running out of the loop may be ok? But then I lost my loop..

lost your loop?

I think you can run the Rm12 as pre only. Yank the power tubes, use the send to drive poweramp of your choice. Insert rack effects between send and power amp in.

the effects loop on the RM4 is a little silly other than having the option for a parallel loop. I don't bother using the loop on my rm4 I take the pre-loop send into the g-major and of to my power-amp.

Joe, I know you know all about this...Have I been lead astray? When I got into MTS the RM12 was available...Some retailers and even Randall said it would be a problem to use another power amp...I didn't quite understand how...But I took their word for it...Since they're supposed to be convincing me to buy... :?

You could use the loop send as a preamp output fine.

EDIT: I'm being stupid, of course just remove the powertubes and go! ;)

yeah, i mean ANY amp with an effects send can be used with another power section. If you are not going to use the tube power section of an amp you just pull all the power tubes.... effectively turns an amp into a "pre amp", a heavy one albeit...

Why in the world would a seller tell me it would color the tone? I was truly ready to buy it.... :?:

Because they don't know what they're talking about?

The effects loop out doesn't colour your tone .. unless it's a bad fx-loop.
Also, it's buffered just like the output of the RM4 .. so should be fine either way.

sad but true....

Wow! I'm f'n shocked...I was really ready to buy a LOADED RM1250 but the seller didn't want my 2400 bucks I guess...I was told if I pulled the tubes and used the power out, there would be signal degredation...

I should've asked on here first but I wasn't really aware of this place either...The one thing I will add is that the seller occasionally posts here...Maybe he'll see this and chime in...
