the JSX is a nice amp...definately lots of gain.it's pretty much a XXX amp with el34 tubes in it,more or less.finding an Engl amp dealer will be a little trickier.there's only about 6 or so dealers in the country that carry Engl amps.you can do one of two things...either e-mail Engl amps at [email protected] (they are pretty good with getting back to you with info in about a day or two) with a request for their list of U.S. dealers that sell Engl amps(i believe one of them was somewhere in So Cal.) or you can visit this website: www.rocksolidamps.com .they are a dealer out of Florida that carries Engls.their website has a "soundclips" section with lots & lots of short & long samples/songs of all of the Engl amp heads.it's really helpful plus,if you check on the company's purchase/return policy,i believe that if you buy an Engl amp, check it out and send it back within a few, specified number of days, they'll refund your money 100%.although,you would have to absorb the shipping fee back to them...good luck!!! p.s. the Fireball at 60 watts is plenty LOUD...

I used to use a JSX. Great amp! DEFINITELY sounds better that a XXX. Less buzzy - more organic. All 3 channels are impressive. No weaknesses! You wouldn't go wrong there.

alright. If I do end up getting a new head, Its either going to be the JSX or the Fireball (or if I go out on a limb, the Powerball).

Yeah as far as the jsx goes i enjoy playing through it, however i find them to be a slight bit on the buzzy side, especially by any comparison to an the engl heads.

I live a few miles away from Rocksolidamps.com and derek is a really great guy to do business with. He has this room in his house with all of the engls, framus' and some other unique heads and he's more then happy to let anyone in there and just jam out full blast to find the head right for them. I've personally playing the fireball and can atest it smokes, but its a one trick pony. Brutal distortion and an great lead and rhythym sound, however the clean channel is like a monster sized fender; the problem is the shared controls and the shared gain control causes a bit of an issue for obvious reasons. But if thats something you can overloook i say do it.

Check rocksolidamps.com also they have some great clips of all the heads.
