Hi Julia (and everybody else)

I think Iommi's sound changed over the years. I dont really know what he used in the 90's. Personally I really like his sound in the live and loud video of ozzy when sabbath join him on stage and play black sabbath. From the audio clips of the laney gh100ti i've heard it gets quite close to that (that amp wasnt created at the time of that gig though)

I know that he used the supergroup and the rangemaster in the early sabbath years, basically a darker voiced superlead circuitry. Then he switched to the laney klipp same dark superlead circuit but with an added valve fuzz channel.

Here's a band I recorded with my Klipp I think the guitars sounded quite early sabbathesque. It was the non klipp channel cranked up to 11 no boost whatsoever and an old 70's jcm 800 4x12 cab loaded with celestion 30H-s. The guitar is a custom les paul.

Don't get too disappointed by the song since it was some sort of metal-mockery thing they were trying to do.

I think your safest bet would be to get one of those iommi heads (I know I'll eventually end up getting one for myself... I cant resist it). But then again that depends on what you want it for and if it justifies the investment.

I have this thing with the recto sounds for example: Its an amp that i dont like too much. But I have to admit that its the best for certain things. So for reamping and multitracking purposes only i dont think i should be buying the real thing and i should get a very good module instead.

I'm more of a marshall freak. Also, if yo ulike good old british sounds look for 'roost' amplifiers. I own a session master 100 2x12 combo and that thing is a beast, and they are really cheap until people start to discover how good they are. They are more mid range voiced but they sound sooooo goooood. That and my old 2203 are my favourite amps, but it feels a lot louder than a marshall. Awesome for the bass as well. You can hear it here on the bass thru my 4x12 jcm800 cab (again) and a couple of 15"HH cabs

The Klipp is algo great for bass but a bit looser

cheers (and now i'm completely off topic again... sorry)

Anyway, (and going back to topic)

If anyone finds that Laney Iommi signature sound in a module let me know too

thanks
