Brand new MTS user here. I just got an RM100KH with a few modules today. I have the KH1, UltraXL, Benzin, and 1666. So far, the 1666 is my favorite. But I really like all of them. I'm going to sell the Benzin, though. It sounds good, but I think I'd rather have something else. It seems like it doesn't add anything to the 1666 and UltraXL combo.

The KH1 is just what I want - really clean. I have the 1666 EQ'd for leads, and the UltraXL for really heavy rhythm. I just miss my Engl Powerball sound for heavy rhythm. It was perfect - saturated, huge bass, but still tight. Is there a module other than the UltraXL that would work better for me? I saw that Salvation Mods has the Angel, and that Randall is coming out with a module based on an Engl. Based on how it looks, I'd say the Angel appears to be based off of the Engl Savage, not the Powerball. Is that right? What about the upcoming Randall module?

The Angel mod is awesome sounding, and it seems all the guys that do mods on here seem to be real cool and have a good rep too. Have you tried or considered the SL+ might be you missing link, because you got two kick *** heavy moduals there. I think Randall is releasing there info at the Namm show around the 16th, someone with more info on that might be able to tell you more. You might also consider getting one of your moduals modded to sound like what you need. I too would like to see a powerball mod, and a Marshall jubilee.

well that is the best starter mts kit I have seen!

I have the 1666 and Angel, used to own a Benzin. The Angel is one of my top mods...but looking at your lineup I would use the 1666 for rhythms (especially low tunings) and dial the XL for leads.

The huge low end could be dialed in with the density controls and/or power tube swaps....but if you're playing modern rock/metal and tune dowm, there's only so much HUGE low end you want anyway, it gets sloppy quick- tightness is the key in my book

You don't want to know what I traded for it...

I went with the UltraXL for rhythm and 1666 for leads because the UltraXL seems more low mid heavy to me. I always associated that more with rhythm than leads. So the Angel sounds good?

Oh yeah, and how about tubes? It has 6L6s right now, but I've always been a fan of KT88s or 6550s. Would the bass end up being too much? I'm playing through a Mills Acoustics 4x12 cab, so I already have a ton of low end.

The 6L6s and cab sound solid enough...as you seek this low end, are you playing in the context of a band (live/studio)? Playing alone tones do not always equal band tones

I love the Angel; I've had many Salvo mods and this one (and the Orange) are by far my favorite

Ok you've peaked my interest, what did you trade for it? :)

I just picked up an rm20 combo with the Sl+ and Treadplate modules. The sl+ is a great module for my needs - not into the heavy stuff so I will lkely sell off the tradplate - I am interested in trying out the blackface/tweed/top boost modules - but none of the stores in my area carry them - they will only order them on spec.
I also have a jaded faith XTC module coming in - looking forward to trying that one out.
With the existing modules and modders and the new releases coming out there sure are a lot of flavors to choose from :D

t's somewhat closer to the Savage, yes, but Anthony said something about being able to include a "Ball" switch to shift the tone to more of a Powerball/Invader style. I would go for it, as I want an Angel really bad, just no Ball switch for me :D

Diezel Herbert. But I got cash out of the deal, too. I needed money for some non guitar related stuff, and I just could not get a single good cash-only offer for the Herbert. I guess it's probably due to the economy sucking.

Now that sounds like something I could go for.

I thought of another module I'd like. Well, not specifically what module, but what tone. I want an 80s metal sound. Something along the lines of a hotrodded JCM800. I'm looking for tones along the lines of Ratt, Dio, the Scorpions, Whitesnake, etc.

So, would that be SL+ or Brahma or something else?

I boosted a Plexi module and added a touch of reverb and delay...sounds **** close.
