I built a footswitch to be able to use the Master Volume Boost on my RM50. I followed Bruce Egnater's schematic to build the switch. The schematic calls for a 1M pot to be used, which works well, but seems a little jumpy. I'm wondering if a 250k or 500k pot might be smoother. Also, would those pot values cause any differences in tone?

Try using an audio taper pot.

I actually did -- tried a 1M audio taper, but that was also jumpy, and even moreso than the linear taper 1M pot i have in there now. In other words, with the audio taper there was almost an immediate jump to very loud volume, whereas the linear seems a bit more friendly. Not what I was expecting ......

No harm to try a 500K or 250K. Also, there is a big difference depending where your gain and masters are set on the modules and the power amp and the relative output of the modules i.e. clean or dirty module. Bruce's schematic shows a 1 Meg.

The setting of the main master on the amp affects how the box knob responds. The lower the amp master is set, the touchier the box will be. Experiment and use whatever value works best for you.

what kind of jack plug for volume boost? Mono or stereo? That with no input output jack? and with swtich on off?
