So, I bought a Loneclean off Jace a few days ago (which he promptly shipped!) and was spending some time with it tonight. When I first got it, I put it in "crystal" mode and everything was pretty gravy. Tonight I switched it over to "Warm" and noticed some major issues as soon as I switched over to the module. There is a squealing and hissing when it is in warm mode. Switching pickups, volume, etc does nothing to reduce the squealing. When I put my finger on any of the switches, it goes away as long as I am touching it. I am thinking the module must have some kind of short that I am grounding out when I touch it. I am planning on making a video of it tomorrow so you guys can hear what I'm talking about. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Assuming nothing went wrong in shipping, I'd email or PM salvation...should be able to help you track it down...

OK, so I don't have my camera to record videos until tomorrow (I left my memory stick at work), so I recorded a quick sound clip with my iPhone and created a SoundClick page to share it with you all (it's called "memo"). Here it is, in case you want to give it a listen to see if you can figure out what might be causing that noise. Keep in mind that this noise ONLY occurs when I have the internal "warm" switch engaged on the Loneclean. Thanks!

Does the warm switch add any gain? Make sure that the module is screwed in all the way. Some high gain modules need to be screwed in to be grounded. Also, did you try swapping out any tubes?

If it were a microphonic tube, wouldnt the module sound crappy no matter which mode I had it in?

I think eyeball was on to something, actually. I didnt have the module screwed in all the way, as I was playing around with changing between warm/crystal with the internal switch. I screwed it in all the way and it seems to be better now. Makes sense, too. Thanks eyeball :)

Glad to pass around the knowledge.

I thougth I had broken my JF Brahma by hot swapping it between two MTS amps to A/B power tubes. Turns out, I just wasn't screwing it in and that caused some kind of grounding issue.

Yep, happened to me too.
When you don't screw it in there's no force to push it into the connector.. so some pins might not make proper contact.
Though I broke my Sloogie that way ;)

Somehow that cane out sounding very wrong!

You had me worried for a minute there! There's no worse feeling then selling something that worked perfectly for you only to find out the product is not working properly for the buyer!
I've run in to both of these problems before. The screws on the modules DO indeed ground them, so always screw them in.
I've also received a module that had a bad tube and wasn't working properly. Swapped it out and life was good.
Enjoy the module!

It's screwed and beyond repair...I'll take that paperweight off your hands and even throw in 20 bucks... :D

That's kind of you, Matt! You have a deal! But I need you to pay shipping, which comes out to $350 ;)

Yes, guys. These thumbscrews are there for screwing:)

Some modules works good without screwing, some not.
It is better to screw both everytime.
Of course, this stands for stock modules too.
