I'm trying to decide between the two mods :( I can't afford both right now, and I'm looking for suggestions as to which one you guys think is better and why. Thanks

What kinda music do you play?

What kinda tones do you like?

Covers or originals?

Coke or Pepsi?

What's the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

They're both awesome...Angel B can get you more mid gain tones along with the high gain but Mamba gives you the best high gain tone...At least to me...Angel B is more versatile but Mamba is more aggressive and tight...

What kind of tones am I looking for? Well, obviously heavy , but not muddy. I'm looking for high gain articulation. If I play a full chord I want to be able to hear the definition. I'm also leaning towards a custom 3. I have two stock mods to send off to Anthony when he opens the gates.

 props on the Python one!

How would you compare the Mamba to the Salvado in gain character?

Interesting question...They are very alike in their high gain tone...And with a little studio trickery you can tweak the Salvado DLX in the ballpark of the Mamba...But Mamba has a really strong character in its gain stages that make it a little bit on the untouchable side...Near perfection for the Mesa/Framus tone...I will probably never sell my Mamba for this reason...

I had this feeling, of course the Soldano, Mesa and Framus are pretty closely related, so I had a feeling the character might be similar.
But you'd say there's definitly value in having them both?

Well, it's a tough call 'cause they can get pretty close...And if that's close enough (which I imagine it is for most folks) for you than I'd say skip it...However, as someone who flips modules constantly both my Salvado Deluxe and Mamba are staying put and have since the day I got 'em...The Salvado Deluxe is so much more versatile but just can't (recto voicing or not) get all the way there on Mamba's insane character found in its low end, low mids, and tons of usable gain...I have found if I use different tubes in each I get more varied results...

ok...... Here comes the next question, choose between Angel(not B) AND Salvado de luxe? :p

I think the Angel and Mamba sound & feel very different. What you describe wanting is clearly Angel. Angel is superior for lead tones, clarity, articulation, yet still gives hi gain. Mamba is my favorite module for hi gain rhythm chunk chunk, and while it can give an interesting solo tone, it's not it's forte. YMMV

I never played the Salvado

Agreed...For lead tones, Angel is the best call...VERY articulate module...

hey now, i was born in 1984 and appreciate tone, i find usually the old guys dont know tone they think tone is and old beat up sears acoustic with three different brand strings wound up on it, a case a beer and some old twang somewhat country music being strummed to death out of tune and time...

 my painkillers make me rant hahaha

I've got a stock tread plate, I'm gonna have that modded to a Salvado Deluxe, and I'm buying a stock Plexi, and having that modded to a Angel B. :D
