About a week ago, I won a Lynch Super V on eBay. This morning, it arrived packed ONLY in a yellow padded bag. The front panel is badly bent, both panel screws are so badly bent they are unusable, neither tube was seated in its holder, and the top of one of the tubes was broken.

In an effort to salvage the module, I installed 2 fully-functioning 12AX7 tubes, but the module has a very weak and totally distorted output that is affected by neither the Gain nor the Level settings.

Although the auction mentioned that the item was used, it said the module was fully functional and did not mention that there was any damage to the module. Do you think it is reasonable if I return the module in a reinforced box, together with the remnants of the yellow padded bag, and demand a full refund?
Absolutley! I believe peeps should pack well and not try to save a buck on shipping something like this. I recently recieved a module in a USPS box that barely fit it. Although it did actually work fine but it had left color from the board inside the box from rubbing. Hope it all works out man. If not there are some very nice peeps on this forum that can doctor it up for you.

Graham,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
The seller should have packaged it much better. I would contact the seller, and send him a photo of the damage. If he balks on making things right, leave him apprpriate feedback on Ebay. Good luck.

Hey guys, thanks for the concern. I mailed the damaged module back to the eBay seller this morning, in an appropriate cardboard box with "FRAGILE" stickers on it. The seller has promised a full refund.

I was really looking forward to adding the Super V module to my collection. Instead, I just bought a Top Boost module on eBay. I'll probably perform the standard mod to this module.

The mod (removing a couple of capacitors and adding a resistor) has been described in this topic as "iffy" and "significantly reduces the module's output". I'll try using larger-value resistors in an effort to find a happy medium between the stock module and the modified module. I'll post my findings in this topic.

Thanks again for all the help and guidance this forum is giving to an MTS "newbie".
