Ultra module noisy?

I have an Ultra module and it makes quite a hiss when turned on almost at all. I also have the plexi and sl+ modules which are pretty much dead quiet, even when cranked. The output isn't low on the Ultra, but it is just noisy. I wanted to ask other Ultra owners, Is this due to it being a higher gain module, or does mine have some sort of problem? If it has a problem, I would guess its a tube, but it's not weak sounding just noisy. Any help would be great.

Ultra is a hi gain- expect some noise/hiss- but what you descibe sounds like a problem

I think I have a pair of cheap chinese 12ax7's that I am going to try to see if it's a tube problem. Doesn't sound like when tubes go bad in my other amps though. I will report back.

I have a Pete Modded Ultra XL. Doesn't hum, but without a noise gate, I couldn't play above 1/4 of the master volume without uncontrollable squeeling. The ISP ProRack G saved the day and my eardrums...

When I took the module out, the tube wasn't seated properly in the V1 spot. Got it working much better with less noise, and finally got some keeper tracks out of it.
