Yeah mate the brands do make a difference. Even Sprague Orange Drop 715p &716p sound different. So if you did all of the changes I did but with other brand components it could sound drastically different to mine. I went to Jaycar once too but decided to order the brand name components online...

Hey folks, glad you like it. Yeah I guess I could share the component changes so you can try it. I used a few Sprague Orange Drops in there. The bass is tighter thanks to the usual C3 being changed to a .001 uF. I can't remember what was in C3, but now it's a 716P 600V 102J. C8 and C9 are 225P...

I've had a 5150ll as my gigging amp since 2003 with no probs too. Yeah I kinda expected some kind of reliability from the Randy since it costs a fair bit more, but Randy has proven me wrong many a time since 2007 when I bought it.... "Sad but true-ahh". I had some great tones goin though.

My 1st one did this. Randall kinda repaired it, or someone did, under warranty. Then the 1st gig I used it for, worked fine for practice, but fired it up for the show and no sound. Randall's people in Melbourne Aus had it for quite a while not knowing what was wrong with it, and cos I'm friends...

Thanks BigBrewtus, I loved the RM100 when it was working! I can't spend cash on a RM4, power amp and rack for a while, but I have some great modules and do want to use them again one day. Ill still be loitering around the place.

The guy in the vid is also using a Strat with a Tone Zone S. (if i recall correctly). I have a Fender with the same wood and colour, and had that pickup for a while. Aggressive tone that really cuts through. Cool tone but I find I prefer my ESP Horizon NT with AT1 and PAF Joe. Has more body. My...

Well done man! Yeah I have one too and wouldn't ever get rid of it. It's a great tone for lead and rhythm. All the sustain and harmonics one could wish for.

Well in that case maybe I like fizz. But sometimes I wonder if people are referring to presence or treble in a distorted tone. I'm not saying you are. Definitely some speakers are "fizzier" than others.

Yeah good idea, then we can see if we're on the same page in describing tone, or way off. Some people think fizzy is a good thing, and some(most, I think) think it's a bad thing.
