Yeah mate the brands do make a difference. Even Sprague Orange Drop 715p &716p sound different. So if you did all of the changes I did but with other brand components it could sound drastically different to mine. I went to Jaycar once too but decided to order the brand name components online...

I've had a 5150ll as my gigging amp since 2003 with no probs too. Yeah I kinda expected some kind of reliability from the Randy since it costs a fair bit more, but Randy has proven me wrong many a time since 2007 when I bought it.... "Sad but true-ahh". I had some great tones goin though.

Thanks BigBrewtus, I loved the RM100 when it was working! I can't spend cash on a RM4, power amp and rack for a while, but I have some great modules and do want to use them again one day. Ill still be loitering around the place.

Well done man! Yeah I have one too and wouldn't ever get rid of it. It's a great tone for lead and rhythm. All the sustain and harmonics one could wish for.

Well in that case maybe I like fizz. But sometimes I wonder if people are referring to presence or treble in a distorted tone. I'm not saying you are. Definitely some speakers are "fizzier" than others.

Yeah good idea, then we can see if we're on the same page in describing tone, or way off. Some people think fizzy is a good thing, and some(most, I think) think it's a bad thing.

Saturation switch? I didn't think there was much of a gain boost or saturation boost with mode to the right. Maybe just a bit, but I hear it as more of a blanket switch. Seriously, with the treble knob all the way up I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the amount of high end in that mode.

Got my RM100 back and it seems to be fixed this time. Hope it stays that way. It's good to have it back. So won't be going rack for a while. Thanks for your help folks. :D

The SL+ has more gain but is not as modern sounding as the Plexi+/1086. The Plexi+/1086 also does low to mid gain better, but doesn't do it as good as a Brahma.

Glad you like my Silver SL+ faceplate, I sure do. :D Out of your options, I think either the solid black or solid purple writing as they're easier to read.
