For me it's the Salvation Custom3 - I actually own two of them & never have less than one occupying a slot in the RM4. Most of the time I have both of them in there & swap my other 10 mods (yes, I have too many :lol:) out of the other two slots. Why? Because it has my "go to" metal rhythm...

I have a Salvation Deadplate and an older JF Recto (from 2009 according the writing on the bottom of it - bought from a forum member rather than direct) The Deadplate sounds quite a lot like the Rect-o-verb head I used to own when I switch on the Blast switch & the tight to the middle position...

I have a little 10w power amp with a single 5881 valve, custom built by MJW Amplification here in the UK. It's perfect for home use - loud enough that I can rattle the window frames if I want, but quiet enough that I can still sound like I'm playing through a valve amp after the kids are in bed.

I have a stock Deluxe & stock Tweed for that, also an Engl E570 SE preamp (which is my "main" preamp). I have MTS for tonal variation - the first thing I wanted was the "sag" of a Recto, and perhaps one or two other high gain options. Then I kinda got carried away in the Classifieds here & on...

Gotta post here about the new JF VHT module I just got. I already had a VHT, made in '09, bought from the classies here. But the new VHT (with the mid sweep pot) is amazing. Thick, dense, intenst, yet still clear & defined, massive low end, more gain than you need. Great, GREAT module...

I'm not sure who's crazier: cold for offloading it or you for buying it when you can't use it! :lol: (though I presume you're about to buy a modular head or preamp?) What is it with you chaps in the US trading Salvation mods like pokemon cards at the moment? :)

Mine don't always sit absolutely flush & some seem to bow out in the middle when the screws have been done up. I find that pressing them in with my thumbs over & under the Mid pot seems to get the "cleanest" insert. As long as you felt the contact point "clip" into the slot, you should be fine...

& FWIW, I use a BBE 482 with my RM4 (one of the older, US built units) I have it in the series FX loop, Lo Contour 5?, Process 4? (or 12:30 & 11:30). I run my Engl SE preamp into the other side of it (Lo 4?, Proc 2?) I also have one of the newer BBE 362 units which with my Engl head. It...
